6 months ago by nerdy.living A Hot Day In Seoul - thinking about being in Seoul South Korea this summer and seeing impeccably groomed Korean women walking around with adorable handheld electric fans (with bunny ears!). Every once in a while we would see a young woman with a curler in her bangs - sitting in a restaurant, riding the subway, out doing errands. Even though I’m in Bali right now, i didn’t want to forget those details from Seoul, so I had to try to paint it :)

Pretty excited about how my digital painting version turned out.⠀ ⠀ Swipe to see the progression. ⠀ ⠀ I've been trying a new painting process thanks to some informative (and entertaining) YouTube videos by @borodante , and it's making digital painting a lot easier. Instead of sketching and coloring within lines, and using lots of layers and clipping masks, I'm painting basically in one layer. First I block in the basic forms and surface colors of the composition with a big brush, then I refine those forms and colors with
6 months ago by nerdy.living Coffee is Made of Star Stuff - one of my favorite things about drawing and digital art (i guess art in general) is that you can take any weird idea that pops into your head and bring it into the world. This woman floating in the clouds, having cosmic coffee poured directly into her head didn’t exist until I drew her. But now here she is, on a shower curtain, ready to welcome you to a refreshing new day. Link in bio.

Handheld electric fans with bunny ears were everywhere in Seoul this summer, along with a good helping of girls with cute pink rollers in their bangs. Just felt like i had to capture that moment in pop culture history :)
